12 Bible Verses For Loneliness To Help Remind You That You Are Not Alone

Everyone feels lonely from time to time, even when we are surrounded by people who love us. Feelings of loneliness can come at any time, often when there we have a need in life that is not being fulfilled.

You do not have to be physically lonely to feel lonely. Sometimes when we do have enough support, love, or attention, it can result in feeling alone, undervalued, or like there is no one who cares at all.

12 Bible Verses For Loneliness To Help Remind You That You Are Not Alone

But what we have to remember is that God is ever-present by our side. By acknowledging that and opening ourselves up to His loving presence, there is no reason we should ever feel alone, afraid, or unloved.

It can be hard to remember this, especially when loneliness feels overwhelming. But we can help ourselves to remember God’s presence through the many comforting verses we are provided in the Bible.

If you feel lonely right now or often feel lonely in your life, read the 12 following Bible verses below about loneliness to help you feel God’s company.

1. Philippians 4:13

“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

Loneliness often comes with feelings of having no support or anyone that we can turn to for help. This short verse from Philippians, however, reminds us that, even though we might feel alone, we can do anything that we need to do through God, who will give us His strength.

2. Psalm 9:9-10

“The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.”

We must always remind ourselves that God is our stronghold and that we are never alone in tough times. Because of this, we should never feel alone in God’s stronghold, as He welcomes all of us to His shelter where we, along with others, can find comfort and strength.

3. Jeremiah 28:11-12

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.’”

You might feel alone right now but it is important to remember that God has a plan for all of us. It might be that He is testing you to make you stronger, or has special plans to surround you with loved ones in the future. In any case, God is present and we should always be confident in the plans He has set in place.

4. Psalm 18:2-3

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies.”

As mentioned in Psalm 9:9-10, God is our stronghold, but He is also our fortress, rock, and shield. It is empowering to remind ourselves of this as it is a testament to how God protects and supports all of us, especially when we feel alone and unloved.

5 Deuteronomy 31:6

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave or forsake you.”

Even if we feel alone, we should never be afraid to continue to face any obstacles as the Lord our God goes with us wherever we go. Due to this, we are never truly alone. Like a loyal companion, God stays by our side to support, guide, and provide strength and comfort whenever we need it.

6. Psalm 23:4

Psalm 23:4

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

This famous Psalm strengthens the message of Deuteronomy 31:6. Even though we might be walking in the darkest of paths, we do not need to fear any evil as God is with us. We are not alone. God is a rod and a staff that guides us even when the path is dark or we have nobody with us.

7. Psalm 16:8

“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

God is at our right hand at all times and therefore there is no reason we should be shaken by any difficult situation or moment of weakness. With God standing and walking by our side, we are never alone. All it takes is that we keep God in our sight, both beside us and in the path ahead.

8. Joshua 1:9

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

The last sentence of this verse from Joshua is a powerful reminder that we can repeat to ourselves when we feel alone. The Lord our God goes with us wherever we go, so there is nothing that should discourage us, make us feel afraid, or harm our courage and strength.

9. Psalm 119:76-77

“May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant. Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight.”

Comfort is always the cure for loneliness and we can receive that from God by recognizing His unfailing love for us all. God loves each and every one of us equally and therefore He is a source of comfort that we can turn to whenever we feel alone or unsupported in life.

10. Psalm 139:7-8

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.”

It is a wonderful thing to remember that not only do we have God with us at all times, but the whole Trinity. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are always with us – no matter whether we ascend to the highest point or descend to the lowest depths, physically and emotionally.

11. Deuteronomy 20:4

“For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”

The Lord our God is our sword, shield, and ally in any battle we have to face on a daily basis. He will provide us strength, fight with us, and give us the final victory, as long as we trust in Him and give Him the glory.

Even when there are enemies or obstacles in the path ahead, God is there with us to help us achieve victory. This verse can be a powerful reminder in tough times. Remember that God is an ally, sword, and shield, there to be our defense, offense, and a helping hand.

12. Psalm 91:11-12

“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”

As the Lord our God is ever-present, so is His army of angels. His angels guard us and lift us up, especially when we are feeling alone or troubled, to guide us out of harm’s way. If you ever feel alone or in danger, remember God’s army of guardian angels are always watching and looking over you.

Conclusion

There is no reason to feel alone when we acknowledge God’s constant presence and the bountiful love and care that He has for all of us. Whether you feel alone physically, emotionally, or both, remind yourself that God is there, by your side, to give you both His company and strength.

We must remember this always and we can help ourselves to remember by keeping the above Bible verses about loneliness in mind. We can draw strength from these verses as well as remember that we are never alone since God is everywhere – no matter where we go.
